Cloghaun Luxury Homes is a meticulously restored late 1700s Irish farmstead comprising the main house, The Hawthorn (sleeps 8) and The Hazel (sleeps 4) situated just outside Doolin, Co. Clare, overlooking the Aran Islands and Galway Bay on the Wild Atlantic Way. These two properties are available for short and long term stays and can be rented together, or individually.

These properties have been in the Howard family since the 1830s and in 2017 were lovingly restored by a fifth generation member of the Howard family. The standard of accommodation in both properties is exceptional, and has to be seen to be truly appreciated. The restoration successfully marries modern conveniences with style and luxury, while also retaining many original features.

We absolutely loved this house! It is immaculate and the interiors are impeccable. We were genuinely taken aback on arrival. The rooms are similar to those found in a 5 star hotel! So many nice touches – wireless speaker, Nespresso machine, fancy toiletries (in each of the 4 bathrooms). The view from the garden is spectacular and can be appreciated from all the upstairs bedrooms. Super cosy, we found it hard to leave. But it was a treat to come back to after our cliff walk. Would highly recommend – we are trying to plan a return trip already! Julia was also a very helpful host, could not have asked for more!

We had a very enjoyable weekend in Hawthorn Cottage, the property is truly amazing and everything you could need was in the house. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable. Great location for site seeing the Clare area, distant views of the sea. Very quiet location but only 5 minutes from Doolin village. We even extended our weekend to Wednesday as we were having such a lovely relaxing time. Definitely worth staying here for an adult family of 7.

The hostess, Sharon, was amazing. The property was the best that I stayed at in Ireland. We had a fire on a rainy night and spent our second night at O’Connor’s in Doolin. The house renovations are amazing. The place is HUGE. It is “off the beaten track” but we were able to get all our supplies in Lisdoonvarna, five to ten minutes down the road.

This house exceeded all expectations. Sharon the host was great to deal with and made the key collection and check out experience really simple. The house itself is stunning, the beds are incredibly comfortable and the smoked salmon, fresh soda bread and goats cheese which were in the fridge on arrival were a real treat. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly.
